Why switch

Why people look for an OmeTV alternative

OmeTV is a free random video chat that runs in the browser and on Android. It is simple, but a few of its own rules send people looking elsewhere.

Camera rules are strict. OmeTV’s rules say your real, uncovered face must always be visible in the frame, so there is no way to start with text only. Bans are automatic: the rules say the system bans users who get several complaints in a short time, and they don’t describe a way to appeal.

There is no gender filter (its FAQ says so), and the extra social features on Android, such as messaging more people a day, sit behind a VIP subscription. Its refund page says it usually doesn’t give refunds.

On iPhone there is currently no app: when we checked the US App Store, the iOS link on OmeTV’s own site returned a not-found page. iPhone users have to use the website.

How to choose an Ome TV alternative

Start with where you want to chat. Browser-based services such as this site, Joingy, CamSurf and Emerald Chat work on any phone or computer without installing anything; Azar is the only one here with apps on both iPhone and Android.

Then decide how much you want to show. If you’re happy on camera, any of these works. If you prefer to warm up with text, pick a service with a real text mode: Emerald Chat (one‑on‑one text and group rooms) or Joingy (a text-only section).

Finally, check what is free. Every option here is free to start. Filters by gender or country are where the money is: Azar sells them through gems or a subscription, and Emerald Chat through its Gold and Platinum plans. Monkey has in-app purchases, though it doesn’t publish what they unlock.

Staying safe on any random video chat

Whatever you pick, the basics are the same. Never share your address, workplace, passwords or payment details with someone you just met. Leave any chat that makes you uncomfortable, and use the report button: every service in this list describes one.

Most of these services say they are for adults 18 and over (see the table), and most rely on you declaring your age. If someone appears to be under 18, end the chat and report it.

How we compared, and our interest

Every fact about another service comes from that service’s own public website, terms, help pages or app store listing, checked on the date shown on its card; each card links its sources. We did not install the apps or create accounts, so the comparison covers what each service publishes, not how it behaves day to day. Features, prices and age rules change, so check the service itself before you sign up.

Our interest, plainly: this site embeds CooMeet’s video chat as a CooMeet partner and earns a share of the revenue when people who start here register or pay, so it is listed first. The other services are listed because people searching for OmeTV alternatives ask about them; we have no relationship with any of them. Service names belong to their owners.

Questions, answered

OmeTV alternatives: FAQ

What is the best free alternative to Ome TV?

It depends on what you miss. For instant video in the browser with nothing to install, start a one‑on‑one chat on this site. For an iPhone app, Azar is the only one on this list on the US App Store. For text first, Emerald Chat and Joingy both have text chat. All are free to start.

Is there an Ome TV app for iPhone?

Not when we checked on 30 October 2026: the App Store link on OmeTV’s own site returned a not-found page, and no listing appeared in Apple’s US store. OmeTV still runs in Safari, and so do the browser-based alternatives on this page.

Do I need to download anything?

Not for the browser-based options. This site, Joingy, CamSurf and Emerald Chat all run in a phone or computer browser. Azar and Monkey also offer apps.

Which Ome TV alternatives have a text-only option?

Emerald Chat offers one‑on‑one text chat and group text rooms, and Joingy has a text-only section. OmeTV itself requires your face to be visible on camera.

Can I filter matches by gender or country?

OmeTV says it doesn’t offer gender filters. On Azar and Emerald Chat a gender filter is a paid feature. This site doesn’t promise any particular gender or country.

Are Ome TV alternatives safe?

They all describe moderation and reporting, but no service can promise who you’ll meet. Keep personal details private, leave any chat that feels wrong, and report people who break the rules.

Are these sites for adults only?

OmeTV, Monkey, Azar and Emerald Chat state 18+. Joingy’s terms say 18+, but its privacy policy mentions 13 with a parent’s permission. We couldn’t find CamSurf’s minimum age published; its Google Play listing is rated Mature 17+. This site is for adults 18+ only.
